No region is best for every brand. China can offer broad manufacturing ecosystems, Bali may suit particular small-brand and resort networks, and Portugal can offer proximity for some European buyers. The actual factory and commercial route matter more than the label.
Compare your real product
Structured cups, bonded seams, performance suits, prints and modest sets need different capabilities. Shortlist suppliers with comparable work before comparing regions.
Map the supply ecosystem
Fabric, dye, print, hardware, labels, testing and freight access affect development speed and minimums. Ask which operations are in-house, nearby or outsourced.
Model total cost and time
Add development fees, product, material minimums, testing, inspection, freight, duty, tax and travel or management time. Unit price alone hides the operating model.
Verify each supplier independently
Check legal identity, facility, references, current evidence and agreement terms. Country reputation is not a substitute for due diligence.
